Stripes Supporters Club back to work

by Jonathan Friggieri - 29th July 2010

Summer is known to be for holidays but, when you're in a committee, these need to be put on hold. Some people may have started to think that Stripes Supporters Club has finished but this is not the case. We have been working from behind the scenes and now we've finally established the official positions and are on the right track for next season.

First of all, I would like to sum up our previous season, which was one that gave us great pleasure in working together; although, at times, it was a difficult task and a challenging road, we are proud that we made it and kept strong till the end. Personally, I would like to thank all the members and personnel who helped the Stripes Supporters Club throughout the past year. Unfortunately, some of them are not going to be part of the group this year; however I'd like to express our gratitude for all that they did. Their hard-work and commitment shall most definitely be missed.

Despite having kicked off the year with several meetings, our committee could not be made official until we were given the go ahead from the Club Committee, and this was delayed because of, as we are all well aware of, Birkirkara' good run in the Champions League. However, the authorization has now been made and you may find the group that will be forming Stripes Supporters Club hereunder.

Chairman/Treasurer: Carmelo Calleja

Vice Chairman: Jonathan Friggieri

Secretary: Justin Attard.

Committee Members: Michael Bonnici, Maverick Bonnici, Clive Bezzina, David Borg, Alfred Bugeja, Nicholas Grima, Godwin Galea, Neville Montfort, George Sammut and Malcolm Tabone.

This year's committee is made up of ex-committee members, new faces as well as veteran members who have been working in this committee for the last 4 years. I would like to give a warm welcome to all the members and wish them luck.

Our efforts are useless without supporters. We need you, the supporters, to be part of this group. With your help and support we may be of great help to the Club Official Committee. Last year we had the pleasure to meet up with the supporters on several occasions. The turnout for our organized activities has been highly satisfactory. We're hoping that this is kept up and along with our loyal supporters we start seeing some new faces; the club needs your help. Whether you're an Ultra or simply a Birkirkara FC supporter, this is our invitation for you to join us and become a part of our big family.

Memberships are €30.00 for a year, mathematically speaking, € 2.50 per month. Every B'kara supporter should be a member. So let's spread the word to get more members. For those of you who have already renewed their membership, I would like to thank you and assure you that the membership cards will not take much longer to be issued; we sincerely apologize for the delay.

Activities:

Stripes Supporters Club shall be organising a get together to thank the Players, technical staff and all members for the good run we had at the Uefa Champions League, this is going to be held at the club premises tomorrow, Friday 30th July from 7.30pm onwards. We do hope to see you all there

The second activity is going to be a BBQ held at the Old Rail Way Station on the 18th of August. Price for Adults is €20 and children under 11 years € 10; tickets may be purchased from all stripes supporters' club members and Nursery. DJ Jeff shall be entertaining us with his Music.

Finally, I would like to finish off by wishing all the luck to our team for the next season and I sincerely hope that our supporters will be giving us their well appreciated enthusiasm throughout the year which is the drive that keeps us going strong.

Forza Stripes.
