Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery in Valenzia Training Camp

by Jonathan Spiteri - 13th October 2010

Valenzia CF, one of the top clubs in Spain, have invited the Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery Under-17 squad for a 6-day training camp. During this stay, the young Stripes will be able to experience many aspects of a professional youth academy set-up, something which will undoubtedly leave positive effects on the Maltese boys, coach and delegates alike.

The contingent, led by delegates Robert Bray and Charles Camenzuli, together with the Under-17 squad coach Jeffrey Mifsud, will be leaving the Island on Thursday 28th October and will be flying back to Malta on Tuesday 2nd November. The squad, consisting of nineteen players in all, will follow a schedule of five training sessions at Valenzia CF's training grounds and facilities. These training sessions will be led by Oscar Fernandez, the Valenzia CF Academy Coach.

Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery's Under-17 squad will also be involved in two friendly matches the Spanish Club's Academy squad. Here the Yellow-Reds will be given the opportunity to measure themselves with foreign opposition whose club's resources are well beyond those available in Malta.

During their stay, the contingent will be guests on Sunday 31st October at the Mestalla Stadium, Valenzia CF's home ground, where they will be watching the Primera Liga match between the local side and Real Zaragoza. Valenzia CF are leading the standings at the moment, therefore the atmosphere should be electrifying.

Birkirkara F.C. Youth Nursery are not new to these training camps abroad, as they had already secured a partnership a few years back with Atalanta, an Italian club which can boast one of the top youth academies in Italy, if not in Europe.
