Paul Zammit thanks the supporters

Last Friday, Birkirkara registered their first draw of the season with a 2-2 result against Valletta. Birkirkara supporters had their best attendance for this season while creating a wonderful atmosphere thanks to a spectacular choreography, organised and lead by the Birkirkara Ultras. Head coach Mr. Paul Zammit had some thoughts to share about all of this with the Birkirkara FC supporters.

Mr. Zammit opened by commenting about the match. "We knew it was going to be a tough game, but we were prepared, tactically and psychologically for it. We started on a very slow note and to make things worse, we lost 2 midfielders in the opening 20 minutes."

He added, "It was very difficult to adjust to the new strategy because we had to put in players with different characteristics than those who were substituted. All in all I wasn't happy with the first half, and although we scored first, I think we were slow to react and we gave the initiative to our opponents"

The Head Coach words turned to a more positive tone when he shared his thoughts about the second half, "We did some tactical changes during the half time and I saw a very good reaction from our boys in the second half. We gained pitch and we started to dictate play, but we knew that we could be caught with counter attacks. The penalty saved by our goalkeeper was a turning point in the game, and we grew stronger in confidence after that. We managed to score the deserved draw and we even pushed more forward in the final minutes.

"All in all, I am very proud of my players, as, once again, they showed great character. We must keep working hard for games to come. We must enrich our strengths and overturn our weaknesses. All in all, I must say that all the Birkirkara Supporters must be proud of all their players. Finally, I felt the need to, personally, thank all our supporters for the backing they're giving us."

Mr. Zammit concluded with a message to all the supporters who were present at Friday's game. "On behalf of our Squad, I would like to thank all the Birkirkara supporters for the continuous support you gave us throughout the game vs Valletta. The choreography was great and you managed to create a great atmosphere, apart from giving us that extra push we needed with their chants. Thank you."
