Birkirkara FC pays a visit to the children at Mater Dei

by Ivan Mizzi - 18th December 2010

Yesterday Birkirkara FC took part in a philanthropic event that was organised by one of the Club's sponsors 'ame health and safety services ltd', aimed at bringing some happiness to the children that are hospitalised at Mater Dei.

Santa Claus climbed down the chimney, and then rode in the wards on a battery operated sleigh, much to the enjoyment of the children.

The Birkirkara FC players, accompanied by Head Coach Mr Paul Zammit, handed out footballs, kindly provided by the Club's technical sponsor Teamsport, to every child. They also handed out posters of the team, and copies of the CD "Merry Christmas Birkirkara" which is a collection of Christmas songs recorded by BKR Radio, while talking to the children and their parents.

Santa Claus and his helpers also handed out to each child a number of gifts that were provided by 'ame health and safety services ltd', Bank of Valletta plc, and some generous individuals.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the sponsors involved in making this wonderful and enjoyable event possible. We also wish to thank BKR Radio and the Club's Bar for helping with the collection of gifts. We wish a speedy recovery to all the children and wish them and their families a happy Christmas in this challenging time they are facing.
