Birkirkara FC to take part in Christmas Cup with Hamrun and Padova

by Ayrton Galea - 26th December 2010

Birkirkara FC will be opening their commitments for the year 2011 by participating in the Eurosport Malta Christmas Cup on 2nd January. They will face Hamrun Spartans and the Italian Seria B side, Padova.

This triangular tournament will be played at Hibernians Stadium in Corradino, and the first match is scheduled to be played at 3pm when Birkirkara and Hamrun Spartans play the opening match of this tournament. Then, in the second match, Padova will be playing against the loser of the previous match. In the third and last match the winner of the first match will play against Padova.

All matches have a duration of forty five minutes.

In case of a draw after forty five minutes of play a penalty shoot will decide a winner of that game. Three points will be awarded to a winner of the match in regular time, two points will go to a winner after a penalty shootout and one point will go to the losing side after a penalty shoot-out.

Media present for the match will decide the outcome of the Cisk Lager Player of the Tournament.

Tickets for the three matches of the tournament cost €6 and can be bought from Eurosport in Birkirkara, Fenech Arredamenti in Santa Venera or Birkirkara FC.

This will be the 2nd edition of this cup. In last year's edition the competitors were the Italian side Parma, Hibernians and Valletta. Parma managed to win the cup by beating both the Maltese sides.

This is an opportunity for all the football followers to watch an Italian side competing against a local team, and we encourage all of you to come and support our team.
