Simon Zahra released by Birkirkara FC

by Ivan Mizzi - 21st February 2011

This morning Australian midfielder, Simon Zahra has been released by Birkirkara F.C. The release was agreed upon amicably and mutually, to serve the interest of both parties.

Simon joined Birkirkara on the 13 September 2010, as an amateur player. Although Simon has Maltese parents and holds a Maltese passport, he is not considered as a Maltese player by Malta Football Association as he is not "home-grown".

Birkirkara FC has five other foreigners on its books, out of which only four can play at the same time. This meant that Simon could not feature regularly in the squad.

In view of all this, Simon decided to return to his native city of Sydney, Australia, just in time to make it to the Australian pre-season, where he is set to join a new team.

With 'The Stripes' Simon made eleven appearances, with six of them being included in the first eleven.

We would like to thank Simon for the service he gave to our Club while we wish him the best of luck in his future.
