Birkirkara to face Hibernians

by Ayrton Galea - 30th April 2012

The Birkirkara FC's Women Team will be involved in a difficult match tomorrow afternoon when in the Knock-Out Semi Final they will face rivals Hibernians.

Birkirkara found it difficult, probably more than expected to beat Gozo, in the Quater Final, and they went a goal down following a fatal mistake. After equalising, Birkirkara were the dominant team but they failed to turn their opportunities into goals. In fact a penalty shoot-out had to decide the verdict with, Birkirkara winning with a 4-3 score after the match ended in a 1-1 draw after the extra time period.

On the other hand, Hibernians found no difficulty to advance to the Semi Finals as in the Quater Finals they beat 2nd Division side Melita with a very comfortable 6-0 score.

'The Stripes' need to improve their performance from their lasting, if they are to advance to the final, but this will not be an easy task as Hibernians always give Birkirkara a tough challenge.

Matches against Hibernians were always balanced and entertaining. In the league campaign these two teams met three times with the first won by Birkirkara with a 2-1 score, while in the other two ended in draws of 1-1 and 2-2 respectively.

The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 15:00.

Come on the Stripes!
