The Birkirkara FC's Under 15 team began their 2012-13 league campaign with a 4-0 win against Attard at Rabat Ground on Saturday.

Attard appeared rocked by Birkirkara's initial burst of energy, making it clear their intent to leave an immediate impact. Birkirkara created numerous chances, as their technical superiority often told, but found Attard's defence in top form particularly in the first half until Nick Borg found the net at the end of the first half.

Birkirkara had an even stronger second half performance. They controlled play and had plenty of possession time, preventing Attard from creating any opportunities. In fact the stripes went on the offence from the start and did not allow Attard to get much closer than the penalty box. Despite the numerous chances lost, Birkirkara managed to score another three goals from Ryan Gauci, Kieran Xuereb and substitute Gianluca Zammit.

Birkirkara's U15 coach Charles Micallef, who is in his first spell with the Nursery, thought his side improved following their first goal. "We weren't good in our finishing,"he said. "But there was only one result in the second half, we were constantly at them and on another day might have got more goals. For the first game you've got to be happy but we're not getting carried away."

Birkirkara U15s will play again on Saturday 22nd September at 17:00 against Zurrieq at the Santa Lucia Ground.
