Ini Akpan joins Birkirkara F.C.

by Ivan Mizzi - 21st October 2012

Ini Etim Akpan is the latest acquisition for Birkirkara FC. The goalkeeper, who was born in Nigeria but is a Maltese citizen, joined our Club on an amateur status.

Ini is not a new face in the Maltese Premier League as he joined Sliema Wanderers in the 2010-2011 season making his first appearance in the goal-less draw against Hibernians on Saturday, 27 November 2010.

In the 2011-2012 season, Ini was playing with the First Division side Lija Athletic where he made fourteen appearances.

Akpan, aged 28, already spent the pre-season with our Club where he was part of the squad in the AME and Tivoli Cup. Akpan played in the third match of the AME Cup in the 4-1 victory over Rabat and in the Tivoli Cup against Hamrun where the latter won with a 2-1 score.

We would like to welcome Ini and wish him all the best of luck with our Club.
