On Saturday our Under 17s squad featured in its first drawn game of this season when their match ended in a 1-1 draw with Hamrun Spartans. The match itself was a really hard-fought one with the end result reflecting both teams' efforts as neither of the two deserved to leave the Rabat Ajax Ground empty handed.

The stripes started sharply pressing high the opposition defence and managed to earn an early penalty expertly taken by captain Kurt Zammit to put the stripes in front. The first half saw Hamrun having more of the ball but our defence stood firm and therefore although having a higher rate of possession Hamrun were not dangerous with their attacks. The first half ending 1 - 0 to the Birkirkara boys.

The second half opened in a similar manner with Hamrun keeping the ball and Birkirkara closing the spaces. Later on it was this time Hamrun that capitalized from the spot to level the scoring. At this point the stripes started to keep the ball for longer spells and created a number of goal scoring opportunities. Unluckily the boys in stripes didn't manage to connect the ball into the goalpost. The game ended in a fair 1 - 1 result.

Mr Glumac was satisfied with the performance overall. "A very close and though game today which was balanced throughout. We showed great effort and the boys deserve the point earned. Well done to them. I am also pleased because the boys that came into the starting line-up gave a positive performance. Thanks"
The team will be back in action soon as they take on Sliema Wanderers at the Luxol Grounds On Sunday 2nd December at 11:00. We once again urge you to come and support our beloved club's future!
