Women's Team aims to keep momentum

by Ayrton Galea - 4th December 2012

Birkirkara FC's Women Team will be aiming to extend its positive run this evening, when they start as favourites in the match against Pembroke, in the 7th league match.

Bouncing back from the 3-3 draw against Gozo with comfortable victories over Tarxien Rainbows and Mgarr United with 8-0 and 5-0 scores respectively, Birkirkara seem to have found their feet back on the ground with morale sky high following these two victories.

On the other hand, Pembroke's league campaign so far could be considered as a roller coaster ride as they are in the fifth position with nine points. Following suffering a 3-0 defeat against current leaders Mosta, they bounced back with a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Hamrun Spartans which lifted back their morale.

Last season, Birkirkara were too powerful and they outclassed Pembroke, as ‘The Stripes' comfortably won all the three matches in the Women's First Division League. Following a 8-1 victory in the first round, Birkirkara registered another comfortable 6-0 victory in the second round before they beat Pembroke with a 8-0 score to be mathematically champions of the First Division.

Birkirkara are second with 13 points from six matches, three under leaders Mosta and without doubt, ‘The Stripes' will be all out to pick the precious points to keep the pace with the leaders. On the other hand, Pembroke who are fifth with 9 points will do their best to climb some places in the league standings and narrow the gap with the same Birkirkara.

The match will be played at the Mosta Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
