Birkirkara's Under 19 team gave a brilliant performance to maintain its place on top of the table by defeating Qormi with a 5-0 score.

Youngster Kurt Zammit was definitely the hero for Birkirkara as he scored no less than four goals, with the other goal being scored by Aiden Galea who converted a penalty.

With Antoine Borg and Aiden Galea providing perfect passes, the Under 17 striker, Kurt Zammit showed his great qualities in front of the goal as he scored a quick hat-trick to give Birkirkara a comfortable cushion.

Playing in very strong wind and continuous rain, Birkirkara, who were playing against the wind, began their match a bit shaky but after scoring the first goal they never looked back and continued to build on their lead.

On the 18th minute, Antoine Borg who recently was having several positive performances sent a perfect through ball in the direction of Kurt Zammit, who from an ideal position beat the goalkeeper to put Birkirkara ahead.

Qormi had no time to settle down as Birkirkara doubled the lead just two minutes later. Following a fast counter attack, Kurt Zammit took the ball, advanced and scored the second goal for Birkirkara and the brace for himself.

Just two minutes later, that is on the 22nd minute, Birkirkara made them three. It was once again a perfect pass by Antoine Borg in the direction of Kurt Zammit who completed his hat trick goal by beating the goalkeeper from a close range to continue proving his great skills in front of goal.

With Qormi shocked from these three goals in quick succession, they failed to create any sort of reply with ‘The Stripes' being the best team on the pitch till the end of the first half.

In the second half, Qormi came out stronger in the early stages of the matches as Birkirkara took some time to settle down.

After picking back their rhythm, Birkirkara made them four just past the hour mark. Aiden Galea stole the ball in front of Qormi's box, and advanced with it before he was floored inside the box with the referee ordering a penalty kick. From the eleven metres, the same Aiden Galea made no mistake.

Once again, Qormi did not have much time to settle down as less than ten minutes later, four became five. Aiden Galea sent a perfect cross from the left with Kurt Zammit scoring the poker goal and the fifth one for Birkirkara. Definitely a day to remember for this promising forward.

In the last stages of the match both teams were unlucky as it was Qormi first who hit the crossbar and in the dying seconds of the match, Antoine Borg had a diagonal shot hitting the right post to deny him a reward for another fine performance.
