Women's Team expected to extend positive run

by Ayrton Galea - 18th December 2012

Birkirkara Women's Team will be aiming to keep their momentum and top form as this evening, the present champions will face bottom placed Hamrun Spartans.

The 3-3 surprising draw against Gozo seemed to fire the Birkirkara players who bounced back with nothing less than three very comfortable victories and one-way traffic matches. Trashing Tarxien Rainbows with an 8-0 score, comfortably beating Mgarr with a 5-0 score and trouncing Prembroke with a 9-0 score, ‘The Stripes' made sure to send a clear message that they are back on the right track.

On the other hand, newly-promoted Hamrun Spartans are still finding life difficult in the top division. With just one point at the bottom of the table with Tarxien Rainbows, Hamrun picked their only point four matches ago against the other promoted team, Tarxien Rainbows. In the last three matches, they conceded three defeats with a 1-0, 2-0 and 8-0 scores against Mgarr United, Pembroke and present leaders Mosta respectively .

With Birkirkara starting as hot favourites for this match, ‘The Stripes' are expecting to continue their positive run and keep the pace with leaders Mosta. In the first round, Birkirkara humiliated Hamrun with a 7-0 score.

The match will be played at the Charles Abela Stadium in Mosta and it is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
