Birkirkara have the perfect opportunity to make the best out of Hibernians' slip up and reduce the gap at the top of the table, when this afternoon they will face Qormi on the 21th match day of the BoV Premier League.

With Hibernians surprisingly losing to Floriana, although merit goes to the Greens for playing a magnificent game, the Peacocks lost the opportunity to take temporarily sole leadership. Birkirkara can now narrow the gap with the same Hibernians to just one point, but the Stripes have a stern test waiting for them.

Having been eliminated from an early fourth round by Qormi, Birkirkara are aware of the Yellow-Blacks potential and surely today's match is nothing more than a difficult and tricky test.

After trashing Mosta with a 7-1 score to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat against Valletta in the top of the table clash, Birkirkara's lack of killer instinct denied them precious three points in their last outing against Sliema Wanderers as they left the stadium with just one point in hand after they lost some great scoring opportunities to end the match in a goal-less draw.

On the other hand, Qormi's morale is sky high after they managed to eliminate a strong side like Birkirkara from the second most prestigious competition of the Maltese football. To continue bolstering their morale, in the last league match they defeated Mosta with a 2-1 score to keep their Championship Pool hopes alive.

However, Qormi might be condemned to Relegation Pool just before the match as in the first match of Saturday's programme, Sliema will face Hamrun and if the Blues emerge as winners, the Yellow Blacks will be mathematically in the Relegation Pool.

On the other hand, Birkirkara will surely do their utmost to narrow the gap with Hibernians and keep the pace with Valletta as the Stripes cannot afford to drop more points before the Championship Pool phase.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 16:00.

Come on the Stripes!
