A goal by Jade Flask just before the half time whistle was enough for Mosta to beat Birkirkara with a solitary goal in the Under 16 Girls' league.

Birkirkara had narrowed the gap to four points by defeating Mgarr United, after Mosta were held in a goal-less draw by Kirkop United. Sunday's match was expected by both sides as the league challenge could be opened wide once again.

Both coaches seemed to have worked hard with the girls throughout the week as both sides did not leave an inch of space for their opponents. However a goal just before the half time was enough for Mosta to pick the precious points in this delicate encounter to re-open a seven point gap over Birkirkara.

For Birkirkara, Alishia Sultana produced probably the best performance of the season as her endurance throughout the match was clear to notice, working hard for every ball and covering every department. On the other hand, Mosta had AnnMarie Muscat and Jade Flask in superb form as they made it difficult for the Stripes' defenders to deal with, although, in many occasions, they were intercepted successfully.

Birkirkara will be involved in the next match of the Under 16's league on Sunday 17 February against Tarxien Rainbows.
