Birkirkara Under 15s found no difficulty whatsoever to beat bottom of the table Zejtun Corinthians at the Siggiewi Grounds on Saturday. The 9-0 final score gives an exact picture of how our boys dominated the game from start to finish, with the difference in quality between the two sided evident throughout the whole ninety minutes. This win consolidates the second place, which means promotion to Section A.

The Stripes took immediate control of proceedings, and went in front early on thanks to Fabien Lufi. Soon after, Birkirkara won a penalty which was expertly dispatched by Jamie Zerafa. The games was practically over as a contest when Ryan Gauci made it 3-0. There was surely no way back for the Corinthians by then, but Birkirkara kept on pressing for more goals and managed to add two more by half time with goals from Kieran Xuereb and Ryan Muscat. Interesting to note that the five goals in the first half were score by five different players. This shows that the team can create various attacking situations.

The second half saw coach Mr Charles Micallef effecting some substitutions in order to allow players who have not played so regularly this season have some taste of competitive football. The rythm of the game remained the same though and the goals kept on coming. Substitutes Owen Cauchi and Luke Taliana grabbed a goal each, while Kieran Xuereb was Birkirkara's most prolific scorer on the day, as he added two more goals to clinch a personal hattrick and make the final score 9-0, which is the biggest win for Birkirkara Under 15s this season

Mr Micallef could not ask for more from his boys in this match. “I would like to say ‘Well Done' to all the players who gave a great performance, with good possession and moves on and off the ball. Also a big ‘Well Done' to the substitutes who showed confidence and good quality football which produced more goals and scoring chances in the second half. Let's keep on working hard to confirm our improvement and hopefully achieve our targets.”

The next test for the Under 15s wil be against Mellieha at their own grounds on Saturday 6th April with kick off scheduled for 13:00.
