Stripes to face Wanderers

by Ayrton Galea - 7th April 2013

Birkirkara, under pressure but filled with determination can move a step closer in their battle for the championship when this afternoon, the Stripes will be involved in a stern test when the face Sliema Wanderers.

Having completed the first round of the Championship Pool phase as sole leaders of the BoV Premier League, optimism in the Birkirkara FC clan for capturing the Championship is high, but the Stripes are in a so near yet so far situation, as they know that a loss could complicate matters in this crucial stage of the league.

Thanks to the narrow 1-0 victory over Tarxien last Saturday, the Stripes have made them four wins in a row.

However, the Stripes are not the only team who had improved performances in the Championship Pool so far. Sliema Wanderers managed to distinguish themselves as the surprise package of the Championship Pool phase thanks to their firing performances.

Eight matches without a defeat and completing the first round of the Championship Pool phase without even conceding a goal, the Wanderers are also in the title challenge as today's match could once again blow the title challenge wide open.

The Stripes will be all out, not only to keep their sole leadership but to win their first match against the Wanderers this season, as the latter defeated the Stripes twice while once bein held in a goal-less draw.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 17:00.

Come on the Stripes!
