Birkirkara Under 16's Girls team advanced to the final of the Under 16's Knock-out competition when the Stripes confirmed their potential by performing a fine performance to outclass league's runners-up Pembroke with a 4-0 score in a match that was played on Sunday morning.

After Birkirkara eliminated Tarxien Rainbows with a 4-2 score in the Quarter Final, the Stripes showed a great character to advance to the final of the competition by showing in class in the way of beating Pembroke in such a comfortable manner.

Following a quite start, Birkirkara began to take the game in their hands and they surged ahead on the 20 minutes. A long distance freekick by goalkeeper Janice Xuereb was deflected by a defender to give the goalkeeper no chance, with the Birkirkara goalkeeper scoring her first goal this season with the Under 16's squad.

This goal was the paving way for the Stripes to add more goals. Just four minutes later, the Stripes made them two. It was a direct freekick by the league's top scorer Raina Giusti who gave no chance to the Pembroke's goalkeeper Nicole Mifsud.

After ending the first half with a 2-0 lead, the Stripes were on fire in the second half and they quickly added the third goal with an excellent strike by Raina Giusti on the 28th minute.

Seven minutes later, the National under 16's midfielder completed her hat-trick when she tapped home from close-range to seal the issue and making them four for the Stripes.

Birkirkara will now face Mosta in the final of this knockout competition next Sunday as the Blues defeated Gozo with a comfortable 6-0 score.
