Four Birkirkara players called-up in Under 19's Women Team

Four Birkirkara players will be part of the Maltese National Under 19 Women's Team's contingent, that will leave Malta early tomorrow morning, to take part in the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship Qualifying Round 1 Mini tournament, hosted in Serbia.

Goalkeeper Janice Xuereb, midfield duo Martina Cilia and Alishia Sultana and forward Raina Giusti are the Birkirkara players called to the squad by Coach Mr. Mark Gatt.

The Under 19's women's team, under the direction of Coach Mark Gatt, has been preparing for the past 10 weeks for this competition.

All girls have been training very hard and it was only last Friday that the final 18 players were chosen. The most difficult choice was that for a place of goalkeepers as all the three custodians have shown significant progress. This augurs well for the future as the senior team is bound to benefit.

Coach Gatt said, “We played five friendly matches, during which the team showed steady improvement and I am happy with every single player. Our main aim will remain the same that is to gain respect from our opponents and work hard to achieve positive results. This will serve as an experience for me and the whole staff.”

We would like to wish the best of luck to the National Team, especially to our players.
