Women's Team outclass Pembroke

Birkirkara Women's Team continued to build momentum in the BOV Women's First Division League as they started the second round commitments on a fine note. Last Tuesday, they overcame the resilient challenge of Pembroke Athleta FC and defeated them with a 3-0 score.

The Women's Team gained their third consecutive victory. After they defeated Gozo 4-0 and Mgarr 2-1, they kept their form to clinch their third consecutive victory, to maintain the pressure on leaders Hibernians.

Pre-match predictions would have put the Stripes as favourites, but few were expecting a fine defensive display by Pembroke, although they had to resort to committing a big number of fouls on the Birkirkara players.

The first half saw the Stripes dominating but frustrated because they could not find the opening goal. When it seemed that the match was heading to a goal-less first half, the Stripes surged ahead with a shot from outside the box by Kim Parnis.

In the second half, Mr. Johann Scicluna introduced Rachel Cuschieri as she replaced Kirstie Vella and the National midfielder was quick to leave her impact. Twenty minutes in the second half she doubled the Stripes' lead thanks to another shot from outside the box.

The Stripes sealed the issue on the seventy-third minute when Kim Parnis scored her second personal goal and the third one for the Stripes.
