Women's Team to face Kirkop United

by Ayrton Galea - 7th January 2014

Three consecutive victories have put the Women's Team back on track and they will be seeking to extend this positive run when today evening, they will take on Kirkop United FC.

The current Champions might have suffered a shaky start but three victories on the run seem to have helped the team find its feet, as their performances keep improving. After trouncing Gozo, and overcoming the strong challenge by Mgarr United, they opened the second round on an excellent note by beating Pembroke Athleta with a 3-0 score.

On the other hand, Kirkop were highly active in the Summer's Transfer Market and many expected more from the newly-promoted team. They currently lie third from bottom as they only managed to earn two victories.

After starting their league commitments with three successive defeats, they bounced back by beating Pembroke Athleta with a 4-1 score and kept their momentum to beat Raiders with a 1-0 score. In their last match, they gave a brilliant performance but it was not enough as they ended up losing with a 3-1 score against present leaders Hibernians.

Birkirkara are currently second, three points behind Hibernians and they will be all out to keep the pace with the leaders, who will they face off in just two weeks time, in what may be described as the match of the season.

The match is going to be played at the Pembroke Athletha Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

We would like to encourage all of our supporters to come and support the Women's Team.

Come on the Stripes!
