Birkirkara Under-19's team continued to confirm their high aspirations for this season as they opened a seven-point lead at the top of the Youths' League Section A, when on Friday they defeated Melita 1-0.

Kurt Zammit's early goal enabled Birkirkara to extend their brilliant string of victories to eight matches as they managed to overcome the resilient challenge by Melita.

Pre-match predictions had the Stripes as favourites to extend their, winning streak and they did not fail, as they left the Sirens Stadium with the three precious points. The Stripes will be involved in the highly anticipated match this Wednesday when they take on Valletta. The match will be played at the Charles Abela Stadium in Mosta and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.
