Birkirkara Under-19's Team has established itself as the unstoppable team in the Youths League Section A, as they registered their ninth consecutive victory. They overcame a resilient Valletta side and defeated them by a narrow 1-0 score.

Birkirkara approached the highly anticipated match with two important players missing, their prolific scorer Kurt Zammit and Beppe Jaccarini, but they continued on their winning streak by beating Valletta with a late goal.

The first half turned out to be a balanced encounter, but the Stripes enjoyed an edge over their opponents as they showed better ideas and created the best chances throughout the first forty-five minutes. The Valletta goalkeeper, Yenz Cini, denied the Stripes from two clear goal scoring opportunities.

The second half continued on a high tempo with the match producing episodes which could have affected the final score. Valletta suffered a setback midway through the second half when they had a player sent off for a double booking. However, it was the Citizens who could have surged ahead when they were awarded a penalty. From the spot, goalkeeper Yenz Cini's shot sallied over the bar.

When everything indicated that the match was heading for a stalemate, the Stripes had different thoughts. They left the best for last as the surged ahead in the final minutes. Following a brilliant cross from the right, Antoine Borg's effort from inside the box went past goalkeeper Yenz Cini, to score the decisive goal for the leaders.

The final whistle found the Birkirkara players celebrating this important victory and applauding back their supporters, who turned out in a good number for this match.
