'We lost the battle but not the war' - Gareth Sciberras

by Ayrton Galea - 5th February 2014

Team's captain, Gareth Sciberras believes that the defeat against Valletta only meant that the Maltese Champions lost the battle not the war as he shared his thoughts following the defeat with this website.

The Birkirkara's tire-less midfielder told us, “It was a tough game, full of different episodes. We were unlucky to concede goals during periods when our team was pressing Valletta. Unfortunately, we ended up on the losing side, but we only lost Sunday's battle but not the war!”

Despite the defeat, the Stripes are three points ahead and their dream of winning back to back titles remains completely alive but Gareth warned that the team must now bounce back, “We must regain our confidence and make sure that we go out on Saturday and continue in our quest of winning back to back titles.”

Finally, Gareth praised the numerous Birkirkara supporters who attended for last Sunday's match as he concluded by saying, “We are proud to say that we have a great army of supporters behind the team, and Sunday's turnout was amazing. We are grateful for all your support and we look forward to more support during such an important phase of the season as you truly are our 12th man!”
