Stripes seek to get back on track

by Ayrton Galea - 6th February 2014

Champions Birkirkara FC will be seeking to return to winning ways tomorrow afternoon when they take on Vittoriosa Stars FC.

Birkirkara will be hoping to end their second round commitments three points over their nearest rivals Valletta to start the Championship Pool phase with a one point advantage.

The Stripes had their impressive streak of thirteen straight victories coming to an end last Sunday when Valletta scored twice against the run of the play to beat Birkirkara with a 2-1 score. The win put the Citizens just three points under Birkirkara.

On the other hand, Vittoriosa are occupying the ninth place of the BOV Premier League standings, and they are certain that they will be playing in the Relegation Pool. However, the newly-promoted side will seek to retain their status in the top division.

Birkirkara have no players suspended and Joseph Zerafa will be back from suspension. On the other hand, Gilbert Martin will be suspended for Vittoriosa. The match is going to be played at the Hibernians Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 16:00.

Come on the Stripes!
