Judgment Day for Birkirkara and Valletta

by Ayrton Galea - 26th April 2014

The match of the decade is finally here. Today, Birkirkara FC will face Valletta FC. A draw will be enough for Birkirkara to be crowned Champions for the fifth, and second consecutive time in their history.

Huge expectations have been built up for today's encounter, that will decide the winner of the BOV Premier League. The rivalry between Birkirkara and Valletta goes back to the late nineties and since then, matches between these two have always offered the top level of the Maltese Football.

Birkirkara currently hold a two point advantage over their closest rivals, so a draw would be enough for them to retain the crown for a second successive year. On the other hand, Valletta have no other option but to beat Birkirkara to reclaim the title they lost to the same Stripes last season.

The Stripes are coming from four consecutive wins in which they scored an impressive fifteen goals and conceded just one. On the other hand, Valletta are also coming from four straight victories and they have been unbeaten for fifteen matches.

Birkirkara defeated Valletta in the first round but the Citizens got their revenge in the second encounter. The third round match ended in a goal-less draw.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 17:00.

Birkirkara FC supporters will be seated in West A (Enclosure side) and the North Stand (Curva). Valletta supporters will have the West C and South Stand reserved for them. The Millennium stand will be reserved for neutral supporters.

The Police also issued instructions that Birkirkara FC supporters are to approach the stadium via Mosta, and to park their vehicles in the West Parking (Enclosure side).

We encourage all the supporters to obey the MFA and Police instructions on the day, to ensure that the match is played in a safe and festive environment.

Come on the Stripes!
