Women's Team aim to keep perfect start

by Ayrton Galea - 1st December 2014

Birkirkara FC Women's Team has enjoyed a superb start in the BOV Women's League by winning their first six matches and on Tuesday evening, they will start as hot favourites to keep maximum points when they take on Sliema Wanderers FC.

The Strippes are currently the only team with maximum points from six matches. Birkirkara has so far overcome the two difficult tests of Hibernians and Mgarr, while doing what was expected from them in the other four matches, when they defeated Swieqi United, Hamrun Spartans, Lija-Ikin and Tarxien Rainbows in their last match.

Despite winning six from six, the Stripes are occupying the second place with eighteen points, one point under Raiders but with a match in hand. These two sides will collide in the top of the table clash next week in what is expected to be a very entertaining top-level match.

On the other hand, tomorrow's opponents, Sliema Wanderers are second from bottom as the newly-formed team of mostly ex-Fgura United's players are struggling in the top division of Women's League and they have so far earned just one point from six matches by holding Swieqi United in an entertaining 2-2 draw. The Wanderers have suffered defeats to Mgarr United, Tarxien Rainbows, Raiders, Kirkop United and Pembroke Athleta with a 5-0 score in their last match.

The match will be played at the Zebbug Grounds and it is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
