Birkirkara FC Under-15's Team continued to confirm their potential in the APS Bank Under-15's League Section A, when on Saturday afternoon they consolidated their sole leadership thanks to a 3-0 win against Valletta FC.

Two goals by Ayrton Attard, in the opening and ending of the first-half, paved the way for the Stripes before substitute Ryan Tonna sealed the issue with the third goal, seven minutes from time. Thanks to this victory, the Stripes completed their first-round commitments on top of the table.

The First Half

Birkirkara went out with all guns blazing and they registered a perfect start as they surged ahead after just four minutes. A shot by Carlo Zammit Lonardelli was blocked by the goalkeeper, and Ayrton Attard raced forward to hit home into an empty net.

Buoyed by an early goal, Birkirkara showed confidence in the opening minutes. They enjoyed the lion's share of possession with Valletta left struggling to match Birkirkara's aggression.

The Stripes remained in command and on the twenty-sixth minute, Miguel Amato caught the Valletta goalkeeper out of position, and sent a long-distance lob but the goalkeeper recovered and parried the effort.

Birkirkara made them two one minute from half-time. An excellent through ball by Nicholas Farrugia saw Ayrton Attard hitting an excellent low strike that left the Valletta goalkeeper staring at the ball rolling inside the net.

With Valletta having no time to make any sort of reaction, the first-half ended with the Stripes enjoying a two-goal cushion thanks to Ayrton Attard's brace.

The Second Half

Valletta went close to narrowing the gap when six minutes into the second half, a free-kick smashed against the crossbar before the ball ended into a goal-kick.

On the other side of the pitch, Birkirkara also went close to adding their third goal on the fiftieth minute, when Ayrton Attard raced forward into the box, but the Valletta goalkeeper turned Attard's effort from a diagonal position into a corner kick.

The Stripes sealed the issue seven minutes from time, when substitute Ryan Tonna raced forward to collect a pin-point through-ball by Neil Friggieri, and he easily shot low, past the Valletta goalkeeper.

The referee's full-time whistle found the Stripes completing their first-round commitments on top of the table with sixteen points from the seven matches.
