Stripes to face Balzan in last match of the league

by Ayrton Galea - 7th May 2015

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to keep their momentum, before the Malta FA Trophy Semi-Final, when in the last match of the BOV Premier League, they take on Balzan FC.

The Stripes are coming from one of their best displays in the league despite having to settle for a goal-less draw last Sunday against Hibernians. Luck was certainly not on Birkirkara's side, as they twice hit the goalposts.

On the other hand, Balzan saw their run of six consecutive wins coming to an end last Saturday. In a balanced match where both sides had their chances, they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Valletta, with Balzan also missing a penalty late in the match.

Both Birkirkara and Balzan are certain of their place in the league standings, whatever happens in this match. Birkirkara will be ending their league campaign in the third place, while Balzan will be in the fourth place.

Birkirkara and Balzan have so far met twice in the Premier League. In the first-round, the Stripes fell to a dramatic 3-2 defeat while in the second-round match, both sides had to settle for a goal-less stalemate.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:00.

Come on the Stripes!
