UEFA Europa League 2015-2016 - First Qualifying Round Draws

by Ayrton Galea - 22nd June 2015

Birkirkara FC will be one out of the 102 Clubs that will participate in the First Qualifying Round of the UEFA Europa League 2015-2016. The draws will be held this afternoon at 13:00 and our Club will be represented by the Club's President Dr. Adrian Delia and secretary Mr. Jonathan Friggieri.

Birkirkara FC, taking part for the nineteenth consecutive time in UEFA Competitions, a local football record, will start this first round ranked as seeded. This means that Birkirkara can only face clubs with a lesser coefficient, which in theory, gives them a better chance to qualify.

In the draw, each club in each seeding group is allocated a number. Balls containing the seeded numbers are placed in one bowl, with balls for the unseeded numbers in the same group placed in another. A ball is taken from each bowl and put into a large empty bowl in the middle, where they are shuffled.

The clubs whose numbers correspond to the first ball drawn play their first game at home, against the teams whose numbers match the next ball drawn. The first leg will be played on Thursday, 2 July while the second leg will be played on Thursday, 9 July.

The list of the possible opponents with their respective co-efficient is the following -

Country - Club - Co-efficient

Slovenia - Celje CC - 3.225
Armenia - Ulisses CC - 2.050
Georgia - Spartaki Tskhinvali CC - 1.875
San Marino - La Fiorita CC - 1.099
