Oriana Bedingfield joins Birkirkara FC

by Ayrton Galea - 20th August 2015

Birkirkara FC Women's Team made their second signing for season 2015-2016, when just a few moments ago, Oriana Bedingfield joined our Club on a one-year loan with an option for a permanent move from Kirkop United FC.

After securing the services of Isabelle Mazzitelli on a permanent transfer, the Stripes continued to strengthen the squad by acquiring the services of Oriana Bedingfield. Oriana is a twenty-seven year old midfielder who can also play on the wing or behind the striker. Before playing for Kirkop United, she enjoyed a positive spell with Mosta FC.

Oriana is a former National Team playing and she made her debut with the National Team in the UEFA Women's EURO Preliminary Round in the 1-1 draw against Armenia in a match played on the 8 March 2011.

Oriana gave us her first comments since joining our Club. She opened by saying, “I joined Birkirkara FC as it was an opportunity to join a team that will be challenging for the title and plays good football. Honestly, I wasn't expecting such a great welcome as I received. The atmosphere is a great one. I can sum it all up by saying that I have great team-mates!”

This will not be the first year for Oriana under the guidance of coach Jean Pierre Portanier as they both worked together for one season with Melita FC. Oriana said “For me he is a Coach, a leader and a friend. I admire him the most for the way he coaches, and how he correct his players.”

Oriana concluded this interview by saying, “I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff which is very helpful. Also, another thing that I always liked at Birkirkara FC Women's team is that it has a wonderful support. Looking forward for a great season!”

We would like to welcome Oriana while wishing her all the best of luck in his adventure with our Club.
