Under-pressure Stripes seek to return to winning ways

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to get over two frustrating weeks and get back to winning ways when they will be involved in a tricky match against the newly-promoted side, Pembroke Athleta FC.

It has been two uneasy weeks for the Stripes who only took a point from their last two matches. They were held in a 2-2 draw against Tarxien Rainbows, and suffered the first defeat last Sunday with a 2-1 result against Valletta.

Still in the early stages of the BOV Premier League, as only three games have been played, one could suggest that the Stripes already have pressure mounting to return to winning ways, as they are drifting five points away from joint-leaders Valletta and Mosta, with the latter being the Stripes' opponent next Tuesday.

If the Stripes may not be performing up to the expectations, the opposite could be said to Pembroke Athleta who went beyond their expectations in the first three matches of the league by winning six out of the maximum of nine points, as they were only downed with a narrow 1-0 score against Sliema Wanderers.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 17:00.

Come on the Stripes!
