Birkirkara FC Women's Team completed another important signing in their aspirations of confirming their position of one of the elite teams on our island when just a few moments ago, English midfielder Catherine Campbell has joined our Club.

Catherine, who started training with us last week, is a twenty-one year old midfielder who was playing last for AFC Wimbledon following a successful spell with Oxford Ladies FC of two seasons.

We talked with Catherine following signing with our Club and she started by explaining her decision. “I joined Birkirkara because of the outstanding football they play, I was looking for a good club with a high standard.”

This is the first spell for Campbell outside England and we have asked her on the first impressions of Maltese Women's football level. “I believe Maltese football is of a very high standard. The training is very frequent and intense which motivates me more than anything.

Despite she has started training just one week ago, her new team-mates quickly helped her settle in the team and she recognises their effort as she told us, “The girls were incredibly friendly and welcoming from the start, I look forward to starting this new journey with them.”

Delighted Catherine shared her views on her targets with our Club, “I'm feeling excited and ready for the upcoming season. My target with the club is to improve as a player to reach my full potential. I believe this is possible with the help of the staff and coaches of Birkirkara.”

She concluded her interview by saying, “I just want to say a huge thank you to the club for the assistance, encouragement and belief they have in me, I will ensure to train and play the best I possibly can, not only for my benefit, but for each of my fellow teammates!”
