Birkirkara FC Youth Academy seminar for Coaches

by James Mizzi - 19th September 2015

Birkirkara FC Youth Academy organised the annual seminar for all its coaches, and committee members. The seminar was held at Savio College in Dingli and served as a guideline on a variety of topics including direction of the Academy and instruction to coaches as well as an explanation of the framework and management of the Academy.

After a brief introduction by Mr Mark Bondin (Director of Youth Coaching), Mr Alex Fenech from Europharma Ltd explained in detail the use of the AED (Automated External Defibrillator), its purpose and the importance of having one in the case a player has a cardiac arrest. This piece of life-saving equipment was donated to the Academy by the Club's technical sponsor. The Academy's coaching staff have all been trained on the use of this equipment, which can make the difference between life and death if a person's heart stops beating properly.

Later, Mr Mark Bondin delivered a 90 minute talk about the 'long term player development' and after lunch, physical trainer Darren Farrugia discussed with all present the 'Guidelines on Physical Fitness'.

The Club would like to thank Eurosport for its donation of the equipment and the continuous support.

Parents of children who are interested in joining the Academy can make queries on academy@birkirkarafc.com.
