Stripes take on Mosta

by Ayrton Galea - 22nd September 2015

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to continue building on last Saturday's victory over Pembroke Athleta FC, when this evening, in the fifth match of the BOV Premier League, they will be facing the more quoted side of Mosta FC.

Following two frustrating weeks, as they were held in a draw against Tarxien Rainbows and conceded the first defeat in the league at the hands of Valletta, the Stripes were back on track last Saturday with a dominant performance and a comfortable victory against newly promoted side Pembroke Athleta.

Thanks to last Saturday's victory, despite still lying in the fifth place, the Stripes have narrowed the gap between the new leaders Hibernians to just three points. Valletta and Mosta are two points ahead of the Stripes in the joint second place while Balzan are just one point ahead.

Mosta have enjoyed an excellent start as they won maximum points in their opening three matches by beating Floriana, Qormi and St. Andrew's respectively but last Saturday, Sliema Wanderers came from behind to give them their first defeat in the Premier League with a 2-1 score.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.

Come on the Stripes!
