Birkirkara FC Under-17's Team made them three in a row in the Play-offs Group E when on Sunday morning, they defeated Sliema Wanderers with a narrow 2-1 score.

The first half saw Birkirkara dominate the game in all departments. The Stripes' aggressive approach reaped benefits as fifteen minutes into the game Gianluca Zammit opened the scoring as he flicked the ball past the Sliema goalkeeper following a through ball inside the penalty area. The stripes kept the initiative throughout the first forty minutes had other chances to increase the lead before Ayrton Attard made it 2-0 with a well-placed shot after dribbling past his opponents inside the penalty area.

In the second half, Sliema managed to reduce the gap with a well taken free-kick after just one minute of play. Sliema surged forward and applied constant pressure in search of an equaliser. Birkirkara defended well and created two good goal scoring opportunities on the counter attack which were neutralised by the Sliema custodian.

The Referee's full-time whistle found the Stripes celebrating a merited Section A status following a good display of football and a positive collective team effort which produced the aspired result for our boys.
