Stripes to take on Wanderers

by Ayrton Galea - 18th October 2015

Birkirkara FC will be back in action this afternoon, and they will be on the lookout to keep the pace with the BOV Premier League leaders Balzan FC, when they face Sliema Wanderers FC.

With leaders Balzan maintaining their sole-leadership with a 2-0 victory over bottom-placed St. Andrew's, and Hibernians scoring a last-second goal to beat Qormi, the Stripes are in a must win situation to keep the pace.

Following an inconsistent start in the league, the Stripes registered back to back victories for the first time in the last two matches. The Stripes defeated Qormi with a 2-1 score before registering a comfortable 4-0 victory over St. Andrew's. With the last victory, the Stripes confirmed their attacking force this season as they are currently the best attack in the league with eighteen goals from seven matches.

On the other hand, Sliema Wanderers are in a must-win situation as they are sharing the eighth-spot with Pembroke Athleta with just ten points from seven matches. The Wanderers have a game in hand after Pembroke were beaten by Tarxien Rainbows. The Wanderers are coming from a 3-0 defeat against Floriana.

Birkirkara will be having Mauricio Mazzetti back following a two-match suspension while Pedro Dos Santos Calcado will be serving a one-match for the Wanderers.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 15:00.

Come on the Stripes!
