Birkirkara FC Girls Under-16's Team registered their biggest victory in the Girls Under-16's League and made them four wins in a row when they easily defeated Kirkop United "B" FC with a much comfortable 7-0 score.

The Stripes started the New Year in the best way possible as in a one-sided match team's top scorer Sarah Urpani netted a hat-trick and Samantha Zarb scored a brace while the other goals came from two wonderful strikes by Mariah Sciberras and Jessica Farrugia Cross. For the latter, this was her first goal this season.

The First Half

The Stripes were quick to make their intentions clear as they had two fine scoring opportunities in the opening moments. First, Samantha Zarb had a powerful volley blocked by the goalkeeper while the same player had her effort blocked by the goalkeeper moments later.

Birkirkara continued to dictate matters and they broke the dead-lock on the fourteenth minute. Mariah Sciberras served Sarah Urpani who was in the perfect position to head the ball over the Kirkop goalkeeper and put the Stripes ahead.

The lead was doubled just two minutes later. Sciberras was once again the provider as she picked-up Samantha Zarb on the left flank with the latter hitting a wonderful strike in the left top corner to double Birkirkara's lead.

On the twenty-first minute, Birkirkara made them three. The flowing movement of Birkirkara's most involved trio namely Sarah Urpani, Mariah Sciberras and Samantha Zarb was evident once again. Samantha Zarb served Mariah Sciberras who hit a fierce strike in the right top corner as the Stripes ended the first half leading by three.

The Second Half

The Stripes were quick to continue where they left in the first half as they made them four one minutes inside the second half. Kaycee Micallef put Sarah Urpani through and the latter hit home with a low strike past the Kirkop goalkeeper.

Birkirkara made them five on the fiftieth minute. Sarah Urpani delivered an accurate corner that saw Samantha Zarb timing a perfect run as she sprinted inside the box and hit precisely the ball in the left low corner to score her second goal of the day.

The Stripes made them six on the forty-fourth minute. Jessica Farrugia Cross, who had been on the pitch for just four minutes, scored a wonderful goal when after she picked a pass from Urpani, the second-half substitute hit a terrific strike past the Kirkop goalkeeper.

Birkirkara scored the seventh and final goal two minutes from time. It was another substitute, Ruth Fenech who put all-alone Sarah Urpani and the latter had a routine task of slotting the ball home from close-range to complete her hat-trick.
