Birkirkara FC Under-17's Team returned to winning ways in the APS Bank Under-17's League Section A as a goal in each half by Gianluca Zammit handed them a fine 2-0 victory over San Gwann FC.

Following last week's defeat to Hibernians, the Stripes made a strong reaction to return to winning ways with a superior performance from their opponents. Despite facing the bottom-placed team, it was far from a walk in the park for the Stripes as San Gwann gave played their hearts out but a goal in each half by Gianluca Zammit was enough for the Stripes to take the all-important three points.

The Stripes surged ahead on the eighteenth minute in the first-half when a corner kick by Ayrton Attard, Gianluca Zammit showed great skill to volley a wonderful effort at the back of the net to put them in the lead. They held on for the lead as the first-half ended with the Stripes having a narrow lead.

In the second half, San Gwann were a bit more optimistic and tried to put the Stripes under pressure. However, Birkirkara still managed to double their lead on the seventy-third minute thanks to another goal by Gianluca Zammit when after he was put through on goal; he placed a well bottom left corner shot that found the back of the net to seal the issue.
