Stripes all-out to make it through

by Ayrton Galea - 5th July 2016

Birkirkara FC will be all-out to book a place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League when they will take on NK Siroki Brijeg. The Stripes will start in a favourable position following a positive 1-1 draw in the away leg.

An away 1-1 draw puts the Stripes in a somewhat comfortable position to make it to the second qualifying round, as a goal-less draw would be enough for them. However, the Croatian coach is asking his players for another tactically disciplined performance in order to be able to make it to the next round.

Besek said, “In the first game we achieved a 1-1 draw and for the home match, we will be doing what we can to stay in this competition and qualify for the second qualifying round. We trained well, we are ready.

“We will make everything we can to get a good result. I know that all our supporters are expecting a good result but we must be very disciplined and we must play with big spirit to achieve another good result.”

The important goal by Cain Attard scored on Thursday could have set a defensive tone for today's match, as a goal-less draw would be enough for qualification but Besek completely rules out this possibility. He said, “We can't defend. What we can defend? We have a good result but how can we defend for all the ninety minutes? The best defence for me is attack.”

The Stripes are expected to be in full strength for tomorrow's match.

The match will be played at the Hibernians Stadium and will kick off at 17:45.

Come on the Stripes!
