Stripes take on Krasnodar in a difficult task

by Ayrton Galea - 4th August 2016

Birkirkara FC will be seeking a positive result this evening in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League when they take on FC Krasnodar.

A goal from corner before the end of the first-half, a soft penalty converted and a third late goal were the main highlights of last week's that saw the Russian giants picking a comfortable three-goal lead before this evening's encounter which put them in the driving seat to advance to the play-off stage.

The score suggests that last week's match was a one-way traffic but things were different as after Krasnodar dominated possession for long stretches the first half, the Stripes showed better football for most of the second half, before two goals in the last fifteen minutes puts them in very steep mountain to climb this evening to advance to the next round.

Coach Drazen Besek will have to do without Ryan Scicluna as the tireless midfielder is suspended following being sent off for double booking late in the last match.

The match will be played at the Krasnodar Stadium and it will kick off at 18:30 CET.

Come on the Stripes!
