Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team registered their fifth consecutive victory in the Youths League Section A, when two goals in the first-half by Ayrton Attard and Gianluca Zammit paved the way for a 2-1 victory over Mosta FC.

The Stripes extended their excellent form in the league with another very satisfactory performance. They have now climbed to the fourth place, just one point under Valletta and five under St. Andrew's, but both Birkirkara and Valletta have a game in hand.

Birkirkara had a strong start and after Gianluca Zammit missed a good opportunity, they went ahead after just nine minute thanks to a wonderful effort by Ayrton Attard. For Attard, this was his fifth goal in the last five matches.

The Stripes continued to build on their one-goal lead and they doubled the lead on the twenty-sixth minute. Andrew Abela delivered a brilliant cross which was headed home by Gianluca Zammit. By this goal, Zammit consolidated his position as the team's top scorer with eight league goals.

Just before the end of the first half, Attard was unlucky not to increase Birkirkara's lead to three goals but his brilliant strike was denied by the woodwork. In the second half, the Stripes controlled their lead and despite Mosta pulled one back in the final few minutes, they held strong for another important victory.

The Stripes will now be involved in another difficult match next Wednesday, when they take on St. Andrew's FC. The match will be played at the Charles Abela Stadium and it will kick off at 20:15.
