Champions Birkirkara FC joined Hibernians FC on top of the BOV Women's League when yesterday evening, they defeated Swieqi United FC with a 5-0 score. For the Stripes, this was their fifth win in five matches.

The Stripes produced another commanding performance, but it was only a last-gasp goal in the first half that deservingly put them ahead. They remained in total control in the second half and four goals in the last ten minutes enabled them to register another comfortable victory.

Despite dominating the first-half, where the Stripes produced several scoring opportunities, it was a brilliant goal just before the half-time whistle by Raina Giusti that separated the two sides at the break.

Yasmeen Vella scored a gem of a goal with a powerful header nine minutes from time and the same player scored her second personal goal with a close-range effort two minutes later. Gabriella Zahra scored a wonderful goal with a powerful shot from distance to make them four before Raina Giusti made them five as she connected perfectly to an inch-perfect cross by Alishia Sultana.

For the Stripes, Women Under-19's Team players namely Jessica Farrugia Cross and Sarah Cassar were called-up for the first time.
