Neil Micallef remains pleased on his BOV Premier League debut, despite that it didn't turn out as wished for the Under-19's Team midfielder. Micallef promised to continue working while looking forward for more experiences with the Senior Team..

Micallef was rewarded for enjoying a brilliant season with the Under-19's Team by starting the Senior Team's match of the 3-0 victory against Mosta FC. However, his debut didn't turn out as planned, as he was stretchered out after just ten minutes, after suffering an injury that forced him to be substituted.

He opened this interview by explaining the moment of the injury. “I got injured when I went to block a shot. I felt that I couldn't get one feet off the ground and as soon as I turned, I felt my knee popped. My condition isn't that good at the moment, but this isn't going to make me throw the towel in because footballers go through these episodes to succeed.”

Despite the unfortunate debut, Neil looks back pleased on his debut. “To start with Birkirkara FC Senior Team felt really good because it was one of wishes that happened while it also meant that I'm doing my work right for the Club.

He concluded by saying, “Although it wasn't a debut that I wished for, I still remain happy that I was given this experience, and for this I would to thank all coaches and all that had faith in me that I will reach this stage. I'll continue to work and look forward.”
