Paul Zammit: We aim to keep this consistency

by Ayrton Galea - 2nd February 2018

Birkirkara FC Coach Mr. Paul Zammit has underlined the importance of keeping the same consistency in the BOV Premier League, as he has stated that the matches in the month of February might give an indication of where the team will place at the end of the season.

The Birkirkara Coach addressed the media in a press-conference held by the Club to present their new signings. During the same press-conference, the Club announced the extension of contract with its technical sponsor, EuroSport for the upcoming three season.

“When we started this project, I tried to explain that the situation at Birkirkara FC was a particular one due to all the changes that happened. The change in the presidency brought investment and a different vision, but also the change in the coach and part of the technical staff brought a different atmosphere and vision.”

“We knew it was going to be difficult at least till December to set the preferred structure and set-up. Every Coach has his own vision, I found that team and I must say there was a very good investment but there were also players that although they are talented, they do not form part of the squad.”

“The difficulty was that while we were trying to give identity to this team, we had the league matches in the weekend. All the plans that we had in the beginning of the season vis-à-vis this squad are all there. I would like to thank the president and all his committee as well as the technical director Mr. Michael Valenzia for making everything possible. The team is now finding its feet, but the road will remain very difficult. We need to remain with the mentality of one game at a time."

“I must repeat all the work that it was being done by the administration and technical staff, a technical staff that we are trying to reach as much as possible the vision of semi-professional, and last but not least the enormous commitment of the players. This is one of the most years that I feel that I have the players in-parallel with my vision for this Club”

“The priority was to establish to squad and today I think that we established the squad. The priority at present is to try and obtain as much points as possible to remain challenging with the top teams. Besides the BOV Premier League, there is also the BOOST FA Trophy that is very important to us and we need to be up to it. The Quarter-Final match is approaching and the month of February might give us the indication in which part of the league standings we will be ending in the end of April.”

“In view of this, above making objectives right now, we aim to keep this consistency because we know that this month of February, the games that we will play in this month will pave the way for the end of the league.”
