Birkirkara FC Under-17's Team returned to winning ways on Sunday morning, as a solitary goal by forward Luca Ganado was enough to beat Hibernians FC with a narrow 1-0 score.

The Stripes were the better team in the first half, as they created a number of opportunities. Carlo Zammit Lonardelli saw his volley ending wide in the opening five minutes, while then efforts by Paul Mbong, Luca Ganado and Harley Bugeja were all denied by goalkeeper Ryan Vella.

Hibernians ended-up playing with one-player less as Morientes Muscat was sent-off and the Stripes were quick to capitalise their numerical advantage as Harley Bugeja's long-distance shot smashed against the crossbar, but Luca Ganado converted the rebound.

In the second half, Birkirkara dictated the play and they went close to double their lead by Sebastian Grech and Carlo Zammit Lonardeli, but Grech's shot was saved while Zammit Lonardelli's shot flashed wide. Goalkeeper Amara Sylla made a fine-save to ensure the three points for his side.

BIRKIRKARA: Amara Sylla, Neil Friggieri, Nikolai Farrugia Cross, Adam Camilleri, Sebastian Grech (67' Owen Sciberras), Luca Ganado (62' Calvin Mallia), Ethan Lethridge, Glenn Attard, Carlo Zammit Lonardelli, Harley Bugeja, Paul Mbong (77' Chris Mula).

Scorer: Luca Ganado.
