by Ayrton Galea - 9th February 2018

Forward Waldemar Acosta is delighted to be playing for Birkirkara FC and the Uruguayan forward is seeking to continue to give his best contribution to the team. He scored his first goal with our Club last weekend in the 2-0 victory over Naxxar Lions FC.

Waldemar joined our Club in the January Transfer Market 2018. The former LDU Portoviejo forward has so far made two appearances and managed to score his first goal with a close-range header in the last match.

How did the opportunity to play for Birkirkara FC became possible?

“The possibility of playing in Malta was given by a football-agent and I reached an agreement with Birkirkara FC. We, as footballers, don't know what the future can hold and now I am here. Malta is a very beautiful country with friendly people. My first impressions of this country are very good.”

How are you feeling with our Club?

“The truth is that I feel very well here. I have received a warm welcome from the coach and the rest of his technical staff, the players and the rest of this Club. I'm slowly adjusting to this new Club and I'm willing to settle completely as soon as possible. I must say, I'm very happy to be here.”

What are your comments on the match against Naxxar Lions?

“It was a difficult match. Our team was better for most of the time, but we couldn't take our scoring opportunities. However, we deserved this victory to help us climb further up in the league standings.”

What are your comments on your goal?

“Yes, thank God, there was the opportunity to score and we achieved the victory. I'm very happy with that. The main objective is to try and contribute to the team accordingly. Of course, scoring goals is important, but we're in a team, and I do what the Coach ask me to do.”

What are your objectives with our Club

“My objectives with Birkirkara FC is to help the team to finish as high as possible in the league standings. We know that it won't be easy, but we will fight to make this possible and give joy to the Birkirkara supporters.”

What is your message to the supporters?

“First of all, I would like to thank them for their warm welcome and support. I encourage them to come and support the team as we need their support every match. We'll leave everything on the pitch to make them happy.”
