Birkirkara to face KÍ Klaksvík

Birkirkara FC will start their European journey for Season 2018-2019 by facing KÍ Klaksvík of Faroe Islands. The first match will be played on the 28 June in Malta, while the return leg in the Faroe Islands will be played on the 5 July.

KÍ Klaksvik were founded in 1904 and they are one of the most successful teams in Faroe Islands. This will be their second consecutive year participating in the UEFA Europa League and the first time ever that they will be playing against a Maltese team.

They are occupying the second place in the Meistaradeildin, the top tier of Faroe Islands, with 29 points from 13 matches, five points less than leaders Havnar Bóltfelag. KÍ Klaksvik placed second last season.

Club's Technical Director Mr. Michael Valenzia has shared his first thoughts on this draw. "We are looking forward to these two matches.”

“All the teams we could have faced would have had their own challenges and Klasvik will be no different, especially since they are currently active in their league campaign The team is preparing extremely hard and we are looking forward for this challenge." concluded Mr. Valenzia.
