Rebecca Bajada joins Birkirkara FC

Birkirkara FC made another bold statement of their aspirations in women's football, when they have captured the signature of the National Team defender, Rebecca Bajada. Bajada, who was last playing for Hibernians FC, joined our Club on a permanent move.

With the BOV Women's Super Cup just one week away, the curtain raiser on another season, the Stripes have stepped up their transfer market activity and completed the signing of the twenty-three-year-old defender.

A product of Gozo FC, Bajada has played for Hibernians FC in the last two seasons, following a successful two-year loan-spell with Raiders FC. Bajada, who can play both as centre-back or side-back, was a key-player at the back line of the Paolites.

On the other hand, she made her debut with the Women's National Team on the 22 November 2016, when she was included as a substitute in the 3-0 victory in a friendly match against Armenia. Last month, Bajada was selected with the Women's National Team for the training camp in Austria.

Bajada becomes the fourth new player for the Women's Team this summer, joining Ylenia Carabott who had joined the team from Hibernians FC in one of the biggest transfers in women's football. Promising youngsters Kailey Willis and Miriana Conti had also joined the squad.

Bajada will be set to make her debut in next Tuesday's game, the BOV Women's Super Cup, incidentally against her former team, Hibernians FC.

We would like to welcome Rebecca while wishing her all the best of luck with our Club.
