Match Preview: Birkirkara FC vs. St. Andrew's FC

by Ayrton Galea - 6th October 2018

Birkirkara FC will be seeking to return to winning ways in the BOV Premier League and keep the pace with the top teams as they will take on St. Andrew's FC in a tricky encounter.

The Stripes suffered their second defeat in this league campaign last Sunday, as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against leaders Gzira United FC. The Stripes are temporally in the fifth place with nine points from five matches.

On the other hand, St. Andrew's have registered just one victory so far with the Saints losing the other four matches. They are coming from four consecutive defeats and they were defeated by Sliema Wanderers FC with a 2-0 score in their last match.

Head to Head

Since St. Andrew's FC won their promotion to the BOV Premier League, both teams have met eight times in this competition. The Stripes five matches, two matches finished in a draw while the other match, which was the last meeting between the two sides, was won by St. Andrew's.

The Stripes nineteen goals in these eight matches, against the six of St. Andrew's FC. The biggest score between the two sides was that of 4-0, as the Stripes defeated the Saints twice with this score – once in Season 2015-2016 and once in Season 2016-2017.

Despite the Stripes dominates the head to head encounters against St. Andrew's, they have only defeated the Saints once in the last five matches of all competitions. Remarkable for the Saints, they have eliminated Birkirkara from the FA Trophy in Season 2016-2017 with a shocking 3-0 score.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and it will kick off at 17:15. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 16:15.

Come on the Stripes!
